85 db is safe to listen to. Anything above it is a problem. You say you have tested using a “sound meter app” but those don’t work, not unless you have the exact phone and exact headphone model that the app is calibrated to. It’s usually EarPods that are the target, so I highly doubt it will read the level correctly for the DT 770.
